Who is IDC?

IDC is the name that London-born David McCarthy has been using since the start of the 21st century for his electronic music-making, DJing, remixing and production work.

Starting out by pioneering the bootleg/mashup scene through airplay for his creations on XFM radio in the UK and MTV Europe's 'MTVMash' series across the continent, IDC's debut original material release then became one of the last records to be championed by the legendary John Peel.

Club hits, an acclaimed debut album and headline international DJ dates saw IDC established as a leading light in the international electro scene throughout the Noughties. Today he ploughs his own sonic field beyond narrow genres or classifications.

IDC - Bio

IDC is David McCarthy, the recording artist/producer/DJ/musician from London.

Since his 2004 debut single release 'Scratch' became one of the last records to be championed by John Peel on his legendary BBC radio show, IDC's releases and international DJ sets have established him as a key figure in the ever-evolving electronic dance music scene.

An initial string of 5 star dance press reviewed singles led to 2008's acclaimed 'album of the month' debut LP 'Overthrow The Boss Class' and saw IDC's headline DJ sets take in some of the biggest and best clubs in the world.

2011 saw the release of second album 'The Sun Is Always Shining Above The Clouds'. The world's biggest selling dance magazine Mixmag wrote "IDC is back with a rich and diverse album made across five studios over 18 months" and DJ Mag called it "a brilliant work" giving a rating of 9 out of 10.

Single 'Ein Deux Tres' was awarded 'Tune Of The Month' in Mixmag and DJ Mag reviewed it by writing "this is 'Single Of The Year'" whilst calling the follow up release 'Everybody' "essential electro".

Later a major feature in leading international dance music publication DJ Mag later declared "Electro iconoclast IDC isn't your typical DJ/producer - he's more like a multi-instrumentalist mix between Brian Wilson and DFA's James Murphy."

Rapturously received DJ sets range from World Top 100 clubs such as Zouk Singapore and Razzmatazz Barcelona through to festival appearances including Bestival in the UK and Europe's largest, Sziget in Budapest.

IDC's tracks are regularly featured in major games releases and international film soundtracks, as well as regularly cropping up in sets from other leading DJs around the world.

The third IDC album is currently in production.
